Syncing Phones and Desktop Repair

In a world where our phones are EVERYTHING, it’s great that we can synchronize them with our computers.  Here’s a nice little blog about synchronizing your phone and desktop repair.

Desktop Repair:  App for Syncing Phones

Did you know that Windows 11 comes with the app for syncing your phone with your computer?  It’s called “phone link”.  It’s already on your computer, all you need to do is type it into the search bar.  Alternatively, you could bother Cortana and ask her to find a “phone link” for you.  Just don’t make the mistake of calling her “Siri”, she doesn’t respond well to that.  If you open the app, then you can begin syncing almost immediately.  Unfortunately, there aren’t any good instructions anywhere for syncing, hopefully you’re pretty good with onscreen instructions.

Desktop Repair:  Phones that can be Synced

In most cases, Apple phones and Android phones can be synced easily.  Any other types of phones will give you some trouble.  For example, Google phones and Windows phones may not sync as easily.  However, Windows phones, although difficult do tend to eventually work.  If you have any trouble, then you should reach out to local shops that specialize in desktop repair near me.  In some cases, they are happy to assist with things like this.  Unfortunately, there is no official place that helps with these types of issues.  This is why you may need to call different computer repair shops to see who might assist with any problems you may run into.

Desktop Repair:  Process for Phone Syncing

To begin syncing your phone with the app, you simply open the app.  As soon as the app opens, it will prompt you to take a picture of a code with your phone.  This code will allow the syncing process to begin.  You will then follow several steps to tie your phone’s system to your computer system.  It is a fairly simple process, which is not too difficult for most people to follow.  I must admit though, I had some trouble with it.  Obviously, I am not the best with technological instructions.  I am freely admitting this.  Don’t judge me.

Desktop Repair:  Is It Difficult to Sync Your Phone?

The first time you sync your phone, it’s a bit of a process.  In fact, there is a certain amount of glitchiness that you can expect.  Unfortunately, there is simply no way around the initial glitches.  This is simply a flaw in Microsoft’s design of the app.  Thankfully, eventually the app becomes easier to use and there are little to no glitches.  As a matter of fact, the phone synchronizes pretty seamlessly after a few syncs.  However, I do notice that sometimes on my iPhone the iMessages randomly shut down when I am responding from my computer.  It’s not a perfect system but it is convenient.

Desktop Repair:  Phone Notifications

One of the nice things about the sync between the computer and the phone is that all the phone notifications go to your computer.  For example, getting a payment on PayPal, the notification goes to your computer.  If you happen to be on your computer at the time, then you’ll see the notification.  This is really nice because you aren’t always on your phone.  I like to work from my computer quite a bit and seeing the notifications there is always nice.  In this way, I’m not constantly checking my phone for notifications.  I just glance over at my computer’s notifications section and I can see the phone notification.  No need to glance at my phone anymore.

Desktop Repair:  Phone Text Messages and How those Work

Text messages that go to your phone will now also go to your computer.  However, the biggest question people have is whether or not you can answer those messages on your computer.  Can you answer text messages on your computer?  Yes!  You can now answer text messages on your computer.  It’s pretty mind boggling, but you can now text through your computer.  No more fiddling with tiny buttons on your phone.  If you are like me and you can type super-fast on a keyboard, then sending text messages from your computer is super convenient.  I love this feature!

Desktop Repair:  Phone Calls and How that Works

The phone call feature on the computer is a little weird.  First of all, you should know that when you answer a phone call on your computer, you still need to use your phone to answer the call.  You can’t actually use your computer to answer the call.  I think this is super silly, but that’s just the way the system is designed.  Is it flawed?  Absolutely!  But what can you do?  Make sure that you completely understand that when you accept a phone call on your computer, you still need to put the phone to your ear or on speaker to make the call.  You don’t actually make the call through your computer.

Desktop Repair:  Benefits of Phone Sync with Computer

There are so many benefits to syncing your phone with your computer.  First, I love that you can type all your text messages in half the time than texting on tiny buttons on your phone.  Second, you can multi-task like crazy when all your notifications are going to your computer.  Finally, there is almost no downside to doing a sync between computer and phone.  It’s such a perfect little system (except for the occasional glitch).  I would still highly recommend that you sync your computer and your phone.  If you aren’t sure where to begin, then find a nice little computer repair shop to help you.  In fact, there are many computer repair places near me that would be happy to assist you with this.
