Computer Repair Shop Credit Card Processing

Credit processing and companies that provide it can be just as confusing as computer repair itself.  In most cases, there are hundreds of companies to choose from and not much information about who you can trust.  Here are some of your options for computer repair shop credit card processing. Hopefully this will help narrow down your search.

Computer Repair Shop Credit Card Processing: PayPal

For many small businesses PayPal seems to be the way to go for many people.  In fact, I used PayPal for 15 years as my primary form of credit card processing.  However, last year I realized there was a $5,000 discrepancy each year in my credit card processing.  Somehow $5,000 a year just kept disappearing from my PayPal accounts.  I’m not accusing PayPal of anything nefarious, but I am saying that it was suspicious and now I’ve switched over to a different company.  If you need a good rate in a pinch, then I would recommend PayPal.  I currently use Foursquare, which seems to work just as well (if not better).

Computer Repair Shop Credit Card Processing: CashApp

For many people, CashApp is the only option, if PayPal has locked them out of their account.  Unfortunately, CashApp is full of scams and 3rd party apps that can take your money.  I would not recommend it for LEGITIMATE business purposes.  This is simply my professional opinion as a business owner.  In fact, I’ve had people reverse charges, 3rd party apps (that I never did business with) withdraw money, and CashApp referral “rewards” never deposit.  It’s been a complete headache dealing with the app itself.  I’ve heard the same thing from other legitimate small businesses.

Computer Repair Shop Credit Card Processing: Venmo

I’ll be honest, I haven’t delt with Venmo very much in my business dealings.  Unfortunately, there aren’t very many people out there with a Venmo account.  It is my understanding that there are no fees for sending money to friends and business profiles.  However, business transactions for products and goods do carry fees.  There are also fees for transactions, ATM withdrawals, instant transfers, and of course those pesky credit cards fees.  All in all, Venmo is comparable to PayPal.  I would highly recommend it for small businesses that don’t want heavy processing fees and need something easy.  Venmo definitely makes credit card processing easier than those bigger bank companies.

Computer Repair Shop Credit Card Processing: Foursquare

As most of you know, I am currently using Foursquare and I have found many benefits to it.  First, you can get an account and card with them to have funds available immediately.  I love that!  Second, deposits can be transferred daily into your bank account automatically.  This means that you don’t have to transfer manually, let the system do the work for you.  Also, a great feature.  Unfortunately, I haven’t found an option for tips yet and it seems weird to constantly ask clients if they want to leave their technician a tip.  Otherwise, I am a little bit in love and partial to Foursquare.

Computer Repair Shop Credit Card Processing: Conventional Credit Card Processing

Conventional credit card processing through a regular company is a huge load.  First of all, there are monthly and yearly fees, which should be enough to make you want to run.  Second, PayPal, Venmo and Foursquare don’t do this which makes it a total scam.  Why do these companies charge so much for the same service?  I’m still flabbergasted by this.  The reality of the matter is that credit card processing companies WANT you to spend a ton of money on their services.  That’s how they make their money; don’t do it.  Instead, save your money and go with a company that has no monthly or yearly fees.

Computer Repair Shop Credit Card Processing: Bank Credit Card Processing

Some banks will have similar fees to regular credit card processing companies.  What does this mean?  This means that there will be monthly and yearly fees, maybe even an initial sign-up fee.  In most cases, it won’t be worth it.  However, check your local banks; because there are smaller banks that may have good deals for you.  Always call around and compare pricing before settling for credit card processing systems or a POS system (Point of Sale).  I would highly recommend not going with a bank system, because they tend to cost more in the long run.  Do your research!

Computer Repair Shop Credit Card Processing: Cash ONLY Accepted

Most vendors on street corners would do cash only, which is quite smart.  Unfortunately, many people stopped carrying cash and now they are forced to accept credit cards too.  It’s sad because they had the right idea at the wrong time.  If you can get away with it, post a big sign CASH ONLY.  In the long run, you could save yourself an average of $1,000 a year.  What can you  buy with an extra $1,000 each and every year?  Maybe go on a mini vacation with your family or a down payment on a car?

Computer Repair Shop Credit Card Processing: ACH ONLY Deposits

ACH deposits are funds that are removed from one bank account and placed into another.  Most ACH deposits don’t cost anything when you sign up with the right service.  For example, QuickBooks offers services that are free to most users.  However, there is a monthly fee for using QuickBooks.  In most cases, this is an ideal way to get paid.  If you can do this payment method, then you are dealing with the most ideal way to get paid.  Unfortunately, not all businesses can work with this payment method.  For example, restaurants can’t incorporate ACH deposits into their payments systems, it wouldn’t be practical.  I would highly recommend working it into your system as a computer repair shop if you can.
