Here are a few words to familiarize yourself with the various payment methods that some shops for laptop repair near me tend to use. Although these are not ALL the payment methods that places offer, they are the most commonly used by laptop repair near me. Most laptop screen repairs, desktop repairs and computer laptop repair can be paid with these methods. Why Do Some Shops for Computer Laptop Repair Near Me Only Accept Cash? Why did computer repair shops near me suddenly started accepting CASH ONLY? But why? In most cases, cash is only accepted to prevent clients from paying the 3% fee for credit cards on large purchases. In fact, 3% doesn’t sound like much, but 3% of a $3,000 custom build computer is $90. This is almost $100 you can save, just by paying for a commissioned gaming computer with cash. Of course, it is preferred to save that $100, but you can always tell the computer repair shop near me that you want to pay the fee. In some cases, the PC repair shop will be happy to pass the fee to you. In 2013, when DML Computer Repair first opened, it was illegal to have the client pay the 3% fee in Colorado. I know, it sounds ridiculous now, but many shops had to “eat” the credit card fees. Can I Pay for Computer Laptop Repair Near Me with a Credit Card? Most PC repair shops near me are happy to accept your credit card as a payment method for laptop screen repairs. As a consumer, you should be aware that smaller shops pay the 3-5% credit card fee. Fees are paid PER transaction, a separate monthly fee, and in some cases a yearly fee as well. This means that some of the smaller computer repair shops near me can be paying up to 5% in fees. As a matter of fact, some clients like to use their credit card for the FREE miles. YOUR miles are NOT free; the PC repair shop paid for them. Can I Pay for Computer Laptop Repair Near Me with Venmo or CashApp? Many PC repair shops near me have done away with Venmo and CashApp, simply because there have been so many scams. Unfortunately, a few people who use these apps for scams now affect everyone. There are people who swear by these apps and their security, but they are vulnerable, like everyone else. Transactions can be cancelled, reversed, and sometimes even credited unfairly. If you plan on using these apps to pay for a computer repair service, then be sure to check with the PC repair shop first. Not all computer repair shops accept these apps to pay, especially for their laptop screen repair services. Can I Pay for Computer Laptop Repair Near Me with a Bank Check or Money Order? In most cases, you can pay for computer repair services with a check, but NOT a money order. Here is my personal experience as a business owner with a money order. Once upon a time, DML Computer Repair had a location in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A man paid for an expensive repair with a money order, which he had cancelled and gotten a refund for. Strangely enough, it was another business owner in Albuquerque who did this. When we deposited the money order, it came back as “bad” and our bank account was over drafted severely. Most PC repair shops near me no longer accept money orders for this very reason. Unfortunately, many won’t even accept checks. There are too many ways to reverse checks and money orders for them to be a reliable payment method. Again, the actions of a few have affected the many. Can I Pay for Computer Laptop Repair Near Me with a Bank Transfer? I have visited many computer repair shops near me and none of them accept bank transfers. Laptop Screen Repairs require parts that need to be purchased immediately and bank transfers can take several days. In fact, most bank transfers take too long for them to be acceptable payment methods for computer repair services in Colorado Springs. I would highly recommend writing a check and showing “proof of funds”. In some cases, your bank can do this if checks are an issue for the PC repair shop near me. Sadly, bank transfers are not something accepted for computer repair services. I would highly recommend investing in a checkbook at that point, or a debit card. Can I Pay for Computer Laptop Repair Near Me with Western Union? Western Union was once a very popular payment method for utilities and debt payment. However, it has never been a payment method accepted for computer repair services. If your only payment available is Western Union, then I would recommend that you open a checking account. Most shops for computer repair services near me accept debit cards to pay for services. Unfortunately, Western Union is a “dinosaur” payment method, rarely used, if ever these days. As a matter of fact, save this payment method for emergency credit card payment when you have no bank account. Can I Pay for Laptop Repair Near Me with a Gift Card? Most computer repair services near me can be paid with Visa gift cards. However, not all computer repair services can be paid with store gift cards. This is due primarily to the fact that not all computer repair shops in Colorado Springs offer gift cards. They may simply not have gift cards available in their computer store. If you would like to purchase a gift card for someone, then be sure to buy a Visa gift card ahead of time. Not all shops offer gift cards to give someone for a holiday.
