My DESKTOP won't power on and there is no sign of power (lights and such) going through my tower.
More than likely you are looking at getting your power supply replaced. However, if you have your power supply tested (before going out and ordering a new one) your motherboard may be the issue. A power supply connects directly to the motherboard and other major components of your computer; if there is something wrong with your motherboard, it could prevent power from being dispersed throughout your computer system.

The following can cause this issue: Motherboard (DC Jack) or the board itself. I'd be surprised if something else was causing the issue; to solve it, you simply need to replace DC Jack on the motherboard. Many computer repair stores will have you replace the board; however, that is not always necessary. Some DC Jacks simply "clip on" to the board, while others need to "soldered down"; our shop does both. We never recommend buying a new board, simply because the cost is much more for the replacement of the motherboard.
I hear a clicking sound coming from my computer. Does this mean that my hard drive is out?
Not necessarily, sometimes wires can hit against fans (when not tied properly) and cause a clicking sound; however, 95% of the time a clicking sound coming from your computer, especially where your hard drive is located, leads to a hard drive replacement. This is referred to as "the click of death" when it comes to hard drives.
When a hard drive has "the click of death" is there a possibility I may still be able to recover data off of it?
Absolutely! The click of death does not necessarily mean that we can no longer access your data. My laptop turns on, I have video when I connect it to an external monitor; but, no picture on the laptop screen.
There can be several culprits in this scenario; however, the most common are screen replacement and video cable replacement (rarely will you find the motherboard clip for the video cable is bad ~ requiring motherboard replacement). If you take it upon yourself to order one (or both), please take the following things into consideration, when ordering.
1. The same model number can have two or three variations of the same screen. Please verify (by removing your screen, carefully, to not damage your case) where the video cable connection is located on your particular laptop. With the back of the screen facing you, look at where the video cable connection is located (left, middle, or right).
2. Make sure that the model number on the back of the screen, the model number of your computer, and the model number of the new screen all match (s/n or serial numbers can be used as identifiers as well).
3. Make sure that you have the correct screen size; always measure from corner to corner DIAGONALLY, never horizontally or vertically.
4. Call several computer repair stores and compare prices on how much the differences are between ordering your screen online and ordering direct from the store (if they have it in stock). If you are willing to wait, you could save up to $500 on a new laptop screen. If you decide to purchase online, shop around for the best deal on having your screen installed (there can sometimes be a price difference between clip-ons and screw-ons ~ among other factors).
5. If you MUST HAVE your screen now for work or important school projects, and ordering it in town is too expensive, try ordering it online on NEXT DAY shipping (many great suppliers offer this). If not, speak to customer service and they may be able to expedite your shipping.
6. Caution for online ordering: Companies that do not ask for your credit card information upon ordering, are probably not legitimate, cancel the order immediately. Be careful when ordering from EBay and similar locations; always try to order from a company, not an individual, check their "seller rating" (% of satisfied customers), READ THE ENTIRE AD, and never attempt to purchase from Craigslist (unless you are absolutely sure that you are getting what you are paying for). Purchasing electronics on this site has a 50/50 chance that there is a problem with the item.
7. Finally, and most importantly, RESEARCH the computer by model number and see if this is a common issue for that particular model. Some models are notorious for having issues with the clip located on the motherboard; if that's the case, you will need to replace the motherboard NOT THE SCREEN. .
I upgraded my Windows machine to the newest version of Windows, and now it has crashed during (or after) the upgrade. Can this be reversed or fixed?

My MAC has a virus. Is it possible to remove a virus from a MAC machine?
It is a common misconception that MAC computers are infiltrated by viruses. An antivirus is not needed on a MAC because they are immune (for lack of a better word) to viruses. MAC machines are NOT immune to malware, such as adware (pop-ups), spyware, worms, and other pieces of unwanted software. The greatest vulnerability is using Windows software on a MAC machine, such as Chrome (a commonly used software that is adware-prone). The best bet is to avoid installing software that is not MAC-native (or available in the Apple Store). If you find yourself with a piece of malware on your MAC, remove non-MAC browsers (disable all add-ons first), use CCleaner for MAC to cleanup your existing browser and perform a malware scan (not to be confused with a virus scan). Once all the malware has been removed perform an operating system update and/or upgrade to the newest operating system. If this does not solve your problem, or if you are unsure of these steps, please take your computer to a professional.
